Special Olympics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Soccerex, a leading football (soccer) business that brings together the best and most elite football clubs, organizations, and leaders from around the world for forums, panels, and networking opportunities in different cities each year.
The MOU will open doors for Special Olympics to work with top football federations and organizations around the world to further develop Special Olympics football programs. Soccerex is working to help Special Olympics in their goal of football being inclusive for all participating. This will include officials, coaches, players, owners, and anyone who has an impact on the game from the grassroots level through the professional level.
“This partnership not only positions Special Olympics alongside the world's leading football organizations, but it also amplifies our voice and raises awareness of our role in the global football community. As we continue our efforts to develop football on a global scale, Soccerex will be our partner, highlighting the power of football as a catalyst for inclusion.”
The partnership between Soccerex and Special Olympics will also help grow other relationships with football federations, coaching associations, professional leagues and teams, and media outlets to communicate the Special Olympics message—using sport to bring footballers with and without intellectual disabilities together as teammates to build friendships and promote social inclusion on and off the pitch.
“Through our partnership with Soccerex, Special Olympics is proud to champion the power of football to promote physical, social, and mental well-being for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Together, we aim to break down barriers, foster inclusivity, and demonstrate how the world's most popular sport can unite individuals of all abilities, creating a stronger, more connected global community.”
