Quincy Jones wasn’t just a music industry legend; he was a true leader in spreading the message of inclusion! His dedication to the A Very Special Christmas (AVCS) albums is unmatched, helping bring people together through the power of music.
Thanks to his support, incredible artists like Luther Vandross shared unforgettable tracks like "The Christmas Song"—all to champion a world where we #ChooseToInclude.
AVSC has raised millions of dollars, distributed by the Christmas Records Trust to needy Special Olympics national Programs allowing them to take part in various levels of sport that they would not otherwise have been able to afford at the time.
His contribution to several Special Olympics World Games will always be remembered and cherished. In 2003, Jones walked in the Opening Ceremony Parade of Athletes. He wrote the theme songs for the 2007 World Games in Shanghai and the 2019 World Games in Abu Dhabi.
Over the years, Jones became close with Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver—a bond that started in 1999 when they both received doctorates from the University of Miami. He fondly remembered their friendship in a letter honoring Mrs. Shriver during Special Olympics’ 40th anniversary.
The entire Special Olympics movement extends condolences to Quincy Jones' many family members, loved ones and friends.
