Elbegzaya Purev, Special Olympics Mongolia athlete

Elbegzaya Purev

Elbegzaya Purev was born in 1993. She attended the 63rd Elementary School from 2003 to 2011. In 2012, she began learning bocce and cross-country skiing as part of the Dream Program in Korea. Her proudest moment with the Special Olympics was winning a silver medal in cross-country skiing at Special Olympics World Winter Games PyeongChang 2013.

Elbegzaya was one of Special Olympics Mongolia’s first athletes and she continues to serve as an Athlete Leader, Health Messenger, volunteer, spokesperson, and advocate for the organization. She also works as an office assistant at the Special Olympics Mongolia office once a week.

Her passion for health and wellness has led her to encourage other athletes to become Health Messengers. Elbegzaya firmly believes that regular exercise promotes good health and enables individuals to achieve their goals while helping others stay healthy.

When she’s not fulfilling her roles as a Health Messenger or competing sports, Elbegzaya enjoys sewing, listening to music, photography, gardening, and honing her Japanese language skills. She holds her mother in high regard, as her mother spends quality time with Elbegzaya and trains other Special Olympics athletes in various life skills and tools.
