Katherine Elizabeth Little

Katherine Elizabeth Little

Special Olympics British Columbia

Katherine (Katie) Little has been participating in Special Olympics British Columbia for 18 years. She competed in many Regional and Provincial Games and three times at Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in the sport of snowshoeing. Her proudest moment was winning four gold medals in Special Olympics British Columbia Provincial Winter Games in 2015.

Katie trained as a Health Messenger in July 2020. This offered her another unique opportunity to continue developing and demonstrating her leadership skills. Her focus was to help athletes improve their ability to cope with emotional stress, and to best prepare mentally and physically for competitions and life!

At the time of her Health Messenger training, in-person meetings were on hold, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Katie demonstrated her newly learned skills by creating Facebook live presentations. Along with Special Olympics British Columbia Staff members, Katie discussed the benefits of following the Fit 5 Guide and developing strong minds and emotional health.

When Katie is not leading as a Health Messenger or competing in snowshoeing, track & field, basketball, swimming, or soccer, she can be found running at her local high school track. She works part-time at a local grocery store and volunteers occasionally at a community thrift shop. To relax, she enjoys coloring, listening to music, and being with friends and family.
