Kurtis Siu is an athlete from Special Olympics Hong Kong and who has been engaging in Special Olympics for nearly 20 years. He has joined five Special Olympics World Games and currently serves as a 2019-2023 Sargent Shriver International Global Messenger. Kurtis also graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design majoring in Graphic Design.
Kurtis has competed in swimming, figure skating and golf. He also is a swimming coach and an assistant coach in a preschool physical fitness center. In addition, he also volunteers in such roles as receptionist, assistant referee and awards presenter in a wide variety of local and regional games. Kurtis also joined the Special Olympics Global Athlete Health Advisory Committee in 2014 to provide his opinions to health issues at the international level and shared health tips for other Special Olympics athletes.
Kurtis does not confine his talents inside Special Olympics but reaches out to different communities by using what he has learned throughout his community. He uses his art knowledge to assist preschool-aged children and help with charity fundraising. One of his most memorable moments is being one of the artists helping athletes and families to draw in the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games.
