He has joined five Special Olympics World Games and currently serves as a 2019-2023 Sargent Shriver International Global Messenger. Kurtis also graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design majoring in Graphic Design.

Kurtis has competed in swimming, figure skating and golf. He also is a swimming coach and an assistant coach in a preschool physical fitness center. He uses his art knowledge to assist preschool-aged children and help with charity fundraising. One of his most memorable moments is being one of the artists helping athletes and families to draw in the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games.
