Special Olympics Senegal

Ndèye Rokhaya Gaye is the third child of five siblings. When she was 7 months, her mother noticed that Ndèye was different from her other children. After several medical examinations, the diagnosis was done: Ndeye Rokhaya has an intellectual disability.

Ndèye was included in a special class for children with intellectual disability. In 2011, she joined a hairstyle school, until 2015. Ndèye is skilled in different hairstyling techniques, buns, brushing, and braids. After training in a hairdressing salon, she took courses at the National School of Arts, from 2019 to 2021.

Ndèye joined Special Olympics in 2010. She practices track and field and basketball. She was selected to participate in Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens in 2011 and she received participation ribbons. In 2015, she participated in Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles; she won a bronze Medal in track and field. In 2020, she won three medals (1 silver and 2 bronze) in Special Olympics Pan African Games in Egypt.
