Patricia Larkin, Special Olympics Ireland athlete

Patricia Larkin

Patricia Larkin, a vibrant 28-year-old, hails from the picturesque Connemara region, in Galway County, Ireland. Her story is a testament to resilience, passion, and a commitment to health.

After joining Special Olympics, Patricia participated in a diverse range of sports—horse riding, swimming, basketball, and bowling. In 2014, she proudly represented Team Connaught in basketball at the Limerick Games, securing a remarkable third place. The thrill of competition fueled her spirit.

Patricia’s heart lies in the water. She now focuses on swimming, the aquatic realm. As a member of the Senior Tribe’s swimming club in Galway, she glides through the water with determination and grace. But her impact extends beyond her training—she selflessly contributes to the Junior Tribe swimming club, sharing her expertise and inspiring young athletes.

Health is Patricia’s compass. She firmly believes that well-being is the foundation for a fulfilling life. As an Athlete Leader, she completed her training and embraced the role of a Health Messenger. Her mission is to educate, empower, and advocate for inclusive health within her community.

Patricia wants her family, colleagues, and fellow Special Olympics friends to understand the importance of health. Through her words and actions, she hopes to ignite a chain reaction—a ripple effect where knowledge spreads from athlete to athlete, family member to family member, and colleague to colleague.

Patricia Larkin is a pioneer for a healthy life and inclusive communities.
