Julia Romualdi is an athlete from Special Olympics Ontario Canada in the North America Region. Julia participates in figure skating, soccer, and athletics. She has been involved in Special Olympics since she was 4 years old.
Julia’s favorite parts about Special Olympics are making new friends and giving back to her community.
Julia is excited for the congress in Berlin. She is looking forward to meeting athletes from around the world. She is also excited to give her presentation.
Julia is employed as a Customer Experience Sales Floor Associate at Walmart. When Julia isn’t working or competing, she enjoys acting, doing art activities, dancing, figure skating, camping, ice fishing, and attending hockey games. Julia also enjoys going to the symphony, attending concerts, and volunteering in her community. Julia says that her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family, boyfriend, and friends.
Julia says that being an athlete leader means everything to her because she wants athletes’ voices to be heard. Julia wants to share her experiences with others, and she wants the world to see the abilities of athletes. As an athlete leader she wants to spread awareness about inclusion and to advocate for others. Julia wants to bring unified leadership, sports, and programming to schools in her community.
Project Description
Julia’s grant plan is to launch an in-person campaign to raise awareness about inclusion and educate people without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) about inclusive practices. She will do this through presentations. Julia’s project will be based on Unified Leadership training of people without IDD in schools and will include athletes sharing their stories and experiences to help attendees understand the importance of inclusion.
