Jahoska and Tiffany look to increase the number of inclusive schools in their community!

About the Project Leaders

Jahoska is a 17-year-old Youth Leader who lives in Managua. Jahoska studies at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua. She is in her first year studying Public Accounting and Finance. She is a Unified Partner and has participated in Family and Health Forums, Youth Leadership, and Unified Soccer!

Tiffany is an 18-year-old Youth Leader from Managua, who studies at Enrique Smith School. She is a Special Olympic Nicaragua Athlete, who also works as a Health Messenger in her community. She is an Athlete Leader and has participated in Innovation Projects before!

The Inspiration

Jahoska and Tiffany noticed that there are still schools in their community that are not inclusive. The pair wants to use this project to promote Unified Schools in their community!

The Project

To help solve this problem and spread the message of Unifies Schools. Jahoska and Tiffany held a meeting with 6 different schools to talk about Unified Sport, create flags and banners, and talk about the impact of inclusion. They hope that through this project and these meetings, the number of Unified Schools in their community will increase.

The Impact

Jahoska and Tiffany’s project spread the message of inclusion across 3 different cities in Nicaragua! The pair was able to educate teachers, parents, and students on how to be more inclusive! Their favorite part of the project was hearing the ideas from the children with Intellectual Disabilities. They were amazed and excited about the different ways they wanted to spread inclusion! They achieved their objective because they brought inclusive education and practices to parents, teachers, and children in 6 different schools across 3 cities!

Project Leader Reflection

This project helped Jahoska and Tiffany improve their communication skills, and develop themselves as people, becoming more creative, and independent, and gaining an increased desire to learn! The main challenge they ran into while implementing this project was finding schools that would allow them to share their ideas, this did not stop them, and they continued to search for schools until they reached their goal of 6! After implementing this project, Jahoska and Tiffany are proud to be a part of the “Inclusion is the Revolution” movement. Moving forward they will continue to preach the message of inclusion and fight for equal opportunity. They conducted their first Youth Leadership camp and will continue to facilitate them, improving the quality of life for people with Intellectual Disabilities!
