Jasmine will host a Unified Super Bowl party for students at her University to promote inclusion!
About the Project Leader

Jasmine Jenkins is a student at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) and the president of the Special Olympics club. She enjoys track and field and soccer, having participated in both during her school years. Jasmine believes inclusion means making every environment enjoyable and respecting everyone. She is inspired to be a youth leader to learn, connect with different people, and bring positive change to her community. Jasmine is proud of her friendships, success, and contributions to her school and community. She dreams of designing a daycare where children experience joy and learn good morals and values from a young age.

About the Project

Jasmine noticed that there is an issue with students without intellectual disabilities developing relationships with students with intellectual disabilities, leading to a lack of awareness and understanding about these students. To promote inclusion and address this issue, Jasmine plans to host an interactive cooking event that will include a diverse group of people with and without intellectual disabilities, such as college students, Special Olympics Athletes, coaches, and volunteers. This social environment where participants can bond over food, sports, and teamwork aims to create a space for inclusion and reduce negative perceptions. In connection with the Super Bowl and the spirit of Special Olympics, participants will work together to prepare a stadium-themed platter by making football-themed snacks. This Unified Super Bowl party aims to promote inclusion and celebrate diversity by bringing together individuals from various backgrounds and abilities.
