Klara is spreading Inclusion and recruiting volunteers through Unified Bocce at her University!
About the Project Leader
Klára Kucharčuková, a 23-year-old youth leader from Šumperk, studied Special Education, which led her to the field of Applied Movement Activities, focusing on movement and sport for people with certain types of disabilities. Through her studies, she became involved with Special Olympics, working as an organizer and referee of bocce in a national tournament. Klára feels that the topic of inclusion and adapted sports or physical activities for athletes or people with intellectual disabilities is not well promoted or advocated for in her area. She aims to raise awareness of this topic at her university and share her experiences with her classmates and community.
About the Project
Klára aims to raise awareness of Special Olympics by hosting events at her University and in her community, using Bocce to promote inclusion. She will first share her experience organizing Bocce tournaments to encourage her classmates to volunteer or become Unified partners. Then, with help from classmates and Special Olympics Athletes, she will organize Bocce games for students with and without intellectual disabilities across her region. Finally, she plans to host Unified Bocce days at her University to promote Special Olympics and Inclusion through Unified Sports. Klara will use Unified Bocce to promote Special Olympics to students at her University and the broader community to help grow the Unified Generation!
