Seun Adigun

Board of Directors

Dr. M. Seun Adigun, D.C., a chiropractor and biomechanist, focuses on injury prevention and rehabilitation while bringing an extremely unique blend to sports medicine. During her fifth season as an assistant track & field coach at the University of Houston, Dr. Seun sought out to understand more about the inner workings of the human body. She resigned from coaching full time and 3.5 years later simultaneously completed her second bachelor’s, second Master’s, and Doctorate degrees.

Born in Chicago, IL, Dr. Seun was raised as a first-generation Nigerian in the United States. She is the second born behind an older brother and two younger brothers. Dr. Seun attended Evanston Township High School until mid-junior year. After a move to the south suburbs of Chicago, she graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

Dr. Seun's impressive academic achievements came alongside an equally impressive athletic career. Her ambitions to help revolutionize sports medicine were driven by many of her personal experiences as an athlete. As a first-generation Nigerian American, Dr. Seun completed her All-American NCAA career and went on to become a three-time Nigerian national champion and two-time African champion in the 100m hurdles. She competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics and resurfaced three years later as a winter athlete in the sport of Bobsled.

Dr. Seun started the first ever African bobsled team which led the first winter federation of any sport to represent Nigeria in the 2018 Olympics. In 2018, the International Olympic Committee recognized Dr. Seun as the first African to compete in both a Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

Her passion for sporting achievement is not confined to the field of play, and her expertise in health and fitness extends to her profession as a chiropractor. She serves as a brand ambassador for Toyota, Visa, and other partners.

Adigun is an advocate for transforming lives and has championed various humanitarian causes. She has mentored high school students in Nigeria as part of the Nigerian Bobsled & Skeleton Federation of Nigeria since 2016 and championed fundraising efforts for children and youth in her home state of Texas. Adigun has also been invited to become a Speak up Africa champion, an effort to raise more awareness of tropical diseases, such as malaria.

In 2019, Dr. Seun was recognized as a Special Olympics Global Ambassador for Special Olympics. She attended Special Olympics 50th Anniversary Celebration in Chicago in July 2018, Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in March 2019 and A Revolution In Action celebratory weekend in Hyannis Port in July 2019. Most recently she attended the 2023 Special Olympics Summer World Games in Berlin. Dr. Seun is actively involved at the local level with Special Olympics Texas and Special Olympics Nigeria.
