International Skating Union announces their unanimous support and affinity for Special Olympics and all its skaters.
Last week in Italy, leaders from the International Skating Union (ISU) took the time during the ISU World Figure Skating Championships to sign an agreement recognizing Special Olympics and the continued work of our athletes in skating sports.
“The ISU is pleased to sign the proclamation of support and affinity for Special Olympics” said the ISU President Mr. Jan Dijkema “we look forward to our future collaboration and to determining in more detail how we will mutually contribute to the promotion of Figure Skating and Speed Skating”.
Special Olympics hopes to work with national member federations of the International Skating Union in conjunction with our local programs to enhance the development of the sports of figure skating and speed skating. Special Olympics figure skating and speed skating competitions are based on ISU rules. This endorsement from the ISU comes in advance of the 2021 Special Olympics World Winter Games (site TBD).
