Home | UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) is the world governing body of cycling, recognized by the International Olympics Committee (IOC). It was founded in 1900 in Paris (France) and now has its headquarters located at the UCI World Cycling Centre in Aigle (Switzerland). The UCI has 203 National Federations, spread across five Continental Confederations.
The UCI seeks to develop and oversee cycling in all its forms and for all people, as a competitive sport, a healthy leisure activity and a sustainable means of transport, but also as a way to have fun.
UCI’s main aim is the development and encouragement of all cycling disciplines globally. It organizes all the European Championships and European Cups. Each year the UCI is organizing World championships, in all cycling disciplines: road, track, cyclocross, BMX, mountain bike, trials and indoor cycling.
Special Olympics International and the UCI signed a partnership agreement in Berlin in June 2024, to enhance the development of cycling globally, to provide more sporting opportunities for Special Olympics athletes, our Special Olympics Programs, and coaches.
