James Mulroy

Judo Technical Delegate - Tipperary, Ireland

James has been involved in Special Olympics for nearly 15 years. In that time he has officiated at three SO World Games and one European Games. He holds the rank of 6th Dan and is the founder and President of Judo Assist Ireland and co-founder and vice President of the International Special Needs Judo Union. He has over forty years’ experience in judo, fifteen of which he has dedicated to the development of adapted judo. He is currently involved in a number of European research projects developing opportunities for people with physical and intellectual challenges. In his long judo career he has represented his country on the international stage as a competitor, coach, referee and tutor.

In his professional career James is a business owner specialising in IT Services and operates a national schools judo program for special education schools.
