Athletics Subject Matter Expert - Ireland

Pat has been a volunteer with Special Olympics Ireland since 1985, attending the Ireland Summer Games each year and eventually becoming the GMS operations lead for all sports. In 2002, in preparation for the World Summer Games being held in Ireland, Pat joined SOI as a volunteer and became a GMS SME for the Games in 2003. Since then, he has attended all World Summer Games as a SME for Athletics, for both GMS and SO Connect. He has also attended World Winter Games as a SME for Short Track Speed Skating. Other SME assignments include: 2014 European Summer Games in Belgium, 2010 USA Games in Lincoln, 2018 USA Games in Seattle, and a yearly appearance at Belgium’s National Games. When he is not volunteering as a SME for Special Olympics, Pat runs a 10 Pin Bowling Club with a friend of his that they started in 1996. They now have approximately 60 Special Olympics athletes and 12 volunteers registered.
