Special Olympics Turkey Held Last Regional Games of the Season

On 6th June, athletes from Thrace regions competed in the Regional Games in Kırklareli.

The Games were organized in cooperation with Municipality of Lüleburgaz and Youth and Sports Service of Lüleburgaz that provided venues and 50 student volunteers. In total, 120 athletes, supported by 20 coaches, competed in Athletics and Unified Basketball involving 24 Unified athletes and 16 Unified partners.

The Opening Ceremony included speeches by Special Olympics Turkey Chairman Mehmet Civelek and Deputy Mayor of Lüleburgaz Deniz Şahin, a dance performance of local folk dance group. Two Special Olympics athletes recited the Athletes Oath. Athletes were screened in MedFest and Special Smiles disciplines of Healthy Athletes.

"All fans help to cheer up our athletes and their performance. So this regional games absolutely reflect Special Olympics soul very well," said Special Olympics Turkey Chairman Mehmet Civelek.
