Zimbabwe Athlete Nominated for 2017 RASA Awards

Munyaradzi Musariri was ecstatic to hear that he had made into the top 3 of the Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA) which were held on the 27th of May 2017 at Birchwood Hotel & Conference Center in South Africa.

The Region 5 Annual Sports Awards, are staged to celebrate excellence and bestow accolades to athletes, coaches, teams and journalists that excel in Sport at Regional and International level.

The nominees to the RASA Awards are drawn from winners of annual country sports awards. Munya was the only Special Olympics nominee from the 10 countries that constitute the Region. The participating members states were Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Munya, as he is affectionately known, is the current sportsman of the year with a disability in Zimbabwe, an award he received at the prestigious Zimbabwe Annual National Sports Awards held on the 20th of January 2017. The award secured Munya an entry in the RASA awards and through a stringent selection procedure, he managed to make it as a top three nominee.
