The message of Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Special Olympics has a very special place in Malawi, one of Africa’s smallest countries, and amongst the least developed countries in the world.
Held this year under the theme of “Change the Game”, the activities took place at Bunda Primary School on 22 July in Lilongwe, the nation’s capital. Unified Sports in the form of football, athletics and netball were on display.
Mrs Chisomo Gunda, Lions Club International District 412 leader, was there to support their partnership with Special Olympics worldwide.
Mr Leonard Nkosi, Special Olympics Malawi chairperson, is proud of their program’s growth into 20 districts and more than 13,000 athletes, most of whom are children. He hopes to see them reach even more districts, and is actively looking for partners to reach this goal.
