For the third time, ultra-swimmer Joel Matos will test his mental and physical strength in Brazadas por la Inclusión (Strokes for Inclusion), a swimming marathon fundraiser for Special Olympics Puerto Rico. This time, Brazadas por la Inclusión will visit seven beaches around the country and the general public will be able to support and participate in a virtual manner.

The event will take place in a different, virtual format, in seven beaches around the country from February 27 to March 6. Matos will swim in each spot. Other participants and the general public interested in supporting Special Olympics Puerto Rico can engage virtually, subscribing to the event on the program’s website: www.specialolympicspuertorico.org

Once subscribed, people will be able to swim, kayak, surf, run or paddle board from the beach at the date of their choosing. Participants will upload pictures and videos to their social media channels using hashtag #brazadasporti and tagging Special Olympics Puerto Rico Facebook and Instagram accounts.

“I have a huge commitment with the inclusion movement, people with intellectual disabilities and athletes from Special Olympics Puerto Rico. That is why I offer my distance swimming abilities to support this Movement” said Matos, who in last year’s event, became the first Puerto Rican to swim 30 consecutive hours in a pool, specifically in the Caparra Country Club swimming pool. During the first edition, Matos swam non-stop for 24 hours.
