"Athletes from across Europe Eurasia came to these Games to showcase their talents, their passion and the results of their hard work. And they delivered—in extraordinary fashion! I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made these Games possible."
David Evangelista, President & Managing Director, Special Olympics Europe Eurasia.
Nearly 2,700 athletes from 105 nations descended upon the Austrian cities of Schladming, Ramsau and Graz to compete. Europe Eurasia saw delegations from 53 programs take part. The Games led to incredible awareness for our movement, including 1.1 billion impressions on social media.
Elsewhere, more than 1,500 athletes received 6,323 medical screenings from 800 health volunteers at Special Olympics Healthy Athletes. Youth activation, a global forum on inclusion, unified events and various athlete workshops and forums also featured meaning Austria really was the heartbeat of the world.
