Special Olympics Florida athlete Chris Nikic has had a whirlwind 12 months including becoming the first person with Down syndrome to complete a full IRONMAN, being inducted into the Guinness World Records, becoming a Special Olympics Champion Ambassador and winning numerous awards including an ESPY and Laureus Sporting Moment of the Year Award. Now Chris and his father Nik share their recipe for success in the new book 1% Better: Reaching My Full Potential and How You Can Too.
In the book, Chris and Nik outline how anyone can achieve big things by striving to make small 1% improvements at a time. Chris says that writing the book was similar to his sports training in that he worked on the book every day. Nik was pleased with Chris’ cognitive development that resulted from his daily writing.
“My hope is that people realize that 1% Better is a lifestyle, one where we can all be successful because we measure success based on progress and not results. When it becomes a habit and part of your lifestyle, then anything is possible. Our hope is that it leads readers to believe they can achieve their goals and dreams.”
