Following the resounding success of the inaugural series in 2021, the Coach Webinar Series 2022 aims to bring leaders and experts across a range of coaching-related topics directly to you! Coaches, athletes, coaching researchers, coach developers, and experts will join us for four weeks of webinars. Our stellar line-up of speakers will share their experiences and knowledge, provide guidance and practical strategies as well as answer your coaching questions.
We are excited to welcome coaches from around the world both within and outside of Special Olympics to join us for this series. Coaches joined us from more than 115 countries in 2021, and we hope to reach even more in 2022.
In this year’s Coach Webinar Series, we are delighted to be able to offer simultaneous interpretation in English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese and Russian. We hope that by expanding the language offerings, we will be able to welcome coaches and speakers from all seven Special Olympics Regions.
Furthermore, we are excited to announce the topics for this year’s Webinar Series:
Week 1: Coaching Mixed-Ability Athletes
Hosted by Special Olympics Australia Athlete Leader Ruby Lawler, this panel will share some of their practical strategies and tips on how to ensure you are meeting the development needs of all your athletes of all abilities.
Week 2: The Athlete’s Voice: “What Do We Want from Our Coaches?”
Hosted by Special Olympics Great Britain Athlete Leader and Coach Kiera Byland, this panel will discuss one of the most important topics in coaching. A global panel of Special Olympics Athletes and Unified Partners will join us to learn more about how they want to be coached and what are the most crucial elements that they want to get out of training with their coaches.
Week 3: Coach-Athlete Relationship
The coach-athlete relationship is the most important relationship on the field of play. Our third online seminar will be hosted by Special Olympics Paraguay Athlete Leader Rosalino Chavez. Rosalino will facilitate two very exciting speakers who will explore with us why this relationship is so important and how we can build stronger, more effective relationships with the athletes we coach.
Week 4: Health and Fitness for Sport Coaches
Special Olympics Malta Athlete Leader Gilmour Borg will host our final webinar. This discussion will cover health and fitness and how vital integrating both are into coaching the whole athlete. Building on last year’s webinar, this year’s speakers will focus on best practices and strategies to support coaches with how to effectively incorporate key health and fitness practices and lessons into regular training and competition.
We are so excited to begin the Coach Webinar Series 2022 and cannot wait for you to join us as we hear from outstanding Athlete Leaders and experts in the coaching world. Pre-registration is essential, so if you would like to join us, please register!
