Going for Gold at the Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games

The Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2020 will consist of four days of intense sports competition from Special Olympics athletes from over 20 countries in the picturesque cities of Östersund and Åre. The Opening Ceremony, which is free and open to the public, will take place on 1 February.

More than 300 athletes will compete in seven sports: floorball, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, figure skating, short track speed skating, alpine skiing and snowboarding. The games will take place at four venues with the help of 900 volunteers.

Intro to Sweden Invitational Games 2020
The Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2020 promise to deliver four days of intense, competitive sports with Special Olympics athletes from 19 countries in the picturesque cities of Östersund and Åre. The Opening Ceremony (1 February 2020), is free and open to the public.

In addition to the action-packed sporting events, the athletes will have the opportunity to receive Healthy Athletes screenings designed specifically to medically support people with intellectual disabilities. Youth leaders from nine countries will attend the European Youth Leadership Summit to engage in cross-cultural exchange and receive leadership training to continue the inclusion movement.

For the first time ever, in collaboration with the International Floorball Federation, the Match Statistics Software will be implemented during all Floorball competitions at Invitational Games. This software will provide athletes and fans with real-time data for all matches!

Athletes Compete in X-cellent Skiing and Snowboarding at the 2020 X Games

On 23 January, 10 pairs of Special Olympics athletes and professional snowboarders returned for the sixth annual Unified Snowboarding Competition at the X Games in Aspen, Colorado. For the first time ever, six teams of two, including one Special Olympics athlete and one professional skier, competed in the first-ever Unified Skiing Competition at the X Games.
