20 April 2022 – PR News announced today Special Olympics and Microsoft won the 2022 Social Impact Award in the Corporate-Community Partnership category for their collaborative efforts on building awareness for last September’s “Gaming for Inclusion” event.
The multi-day esports tournament showcased the power of inclusion through gaming and connected people of all abilities from across the United States.
Participating in this event were more than 90 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners from 16 states. Games included Madden NFL 22, Forza Motorsport 7 and Rocket League.
The Social Impact Awards honor communicators who use their platforms to better both their local and global communities. Together, Special Olympics and Microsoft exhibited the power of an integrated approach to public relations to create an inclusive event that brought together gamers both with and without intellectual disabilities.
