Seven-time world champion and first wrestling superstar to hold a WWE, WCW, and ECW championship belt, Big Show paid a visit to Special Olympics athletes and employees at the Special Olympics headquarters in Washington, DC.
Big Show who became a Global Ambassador in 2018 has supported Special Olympics since the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games.
Big Show expressed to athletes and employees that what was important to him in his decision to be a part of Special Olympics was him being in a society were inclusion and not prejudging individuals were values held by everyone.
“Inclusion is so important for everyone today in a world that is as complicated with everything that is going on. Inclusion is the best way to give everyone a community, to get everyone on the same page [and] just be better human beings.”
Special Olympics athletes were moved by his efforts in helping to end discrimination against people with intellectual disabilities and foster a more inclusive world and taking the time to pay them a visit.
Special Olympic USA Games gold medalist, Special Olympics DC athlete, and Special Olympics HQ employee Novie Craven has been a longtime fan of the pro wrestler and had been looking forward to this day for a while.
“I’m beyond excited,” Craven said. “I told some of my colleagues today ‘this is the biggest day of my life.’”
“He does a whole lot for Special Olympics. Just to have him here supporting us, having our backs and everything, it’s big.”
Some Special Olympics athletes were left speechless.
Special Olympics World Games 2019 gold medalist, Special Olympics Maryland athlete and employee Kegan Zimmerman believes that the Big Show can help their story get across to the rest of the world.
“For the Big Show to do something like this, that’s incredible,” Zimmerman said. “I mean, there are so many words that I cannot describe.”
“It’s good to have WWE a part of this organization because they can inspire our athletes that they can do anything.”
