Charlotte Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist host 60 Special Olympics Athletes at the University of Kentucky

Charlotte Hornets forward and former University of Kentucky Wildcats champion Michael Kidd-Gilchrist hosted a basketball camp for 60 Special Olympics athletes at the Joe Craft Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Kidd-Gilchrist, who suffers from a speech impediment, said that he relates to the Special Olympics athletes because of the struggles he has faced dealing with his speech impediment.

“It’s great. Anybody who knows me and my background, I have my own challenges as well so I feel great knowing that I have a passion for people in general.”

Kidd-Gilchrist was accompanied by the Kentucky women’s basketball team as well as local high school and college players and coaches.
