Adéla Šavlová, Special Olympics Czech Republic athlete

Adéla Šavlová

Adéla, a long-time athlete from the Czech Republic, has been making waves both in the water and beyond. Her passion for sports and commitment to healthy living have shaped her remarkable life.

Adéla joined Special Olympics Czech Republic in 2001, participating in various sports. Among them, swimming holds a special place in her heart. She represented her country in four Special Olympics World Games. In 2013, she competed in cross-country at the World Games in Korea, and again in 2017 at the 11th World Winter Games in Styria, Austria. In 2019, she competed in swimming at the World Games Abu Dhabi. Her golden moment came when she won a gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke at Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023.

A genuine love for working with fellow athletes and inspiring healthy habits moved Adéla to become a Health Messenger. She completed her Health Messenger training in 2023 and since then, she has encouraged other athletes to prioritize their well-being, emphasizing fitness and balanced nutrition. Adéla combines her healthy lifestyle pursuits with her job at the ceramics shop in the small town she lives in. She actively commutes by walking or biking, ensuring physical activity remains a priority. Her family’s support fuels her journey toward better health. Adéla aims for a lean diet most of the time. However, she indulges in coffee and cake during special occasions—because emotional happiness matters too!

She will continue to inspire the necessary change toward a good healthcare experience for all.
