Shrey Kadian

2023 Global Athlete Congress Participant

Shrey Kadian is an athlete from Special Olympics Bharat India in the Asia Pacific Region. Shrey participates in softball, shot-put throw, and running. He has been involved in Special Olympics since 2008.

Shrey’s favorite part about Special Olympics is acceptance. He hopes that any Special Olympics athlete who joins in the sports and leadership academy to train our new generation of athletes will help people accept athletes all over the world.

Shrey is excited for the congress in Berlin. He is looking forward to sharing his project and leading many programs at the congress. Shrey is excited to meet fellow athlete leaders and their mentors from around the world. He is looking forward to learning new things that he can apply to the Asia Pacific region. He is excited to have discussions about jobs for people with intellectual disabilities.

Shrey is employed as a sports coach in the Cornerstone India Foundation School. When Shrey isn’t working or competing, he enjoys listening to music, dancing, helping other people, studying, trying to learn new things, making YouTube videos, and watching movies. He also likes to eat any food and explore the world in any different place.

Shrey says that being an athlete leader means providing the best training at school, local, national, regional, and international levels. He says that athlete leaders get a lot of opportunities where they will utilize their leadership skills.

Project Description

Shrey’s grant plan is to develop and train new athlete leaders selected from twelve states through in person and online modes. The selected athletes will be required to complete the basic athlete leadership courses from the Special Olympics International e-learn portal. Athletes will be trained to create an athlete leadership plan for their states in consultation with state officials. Various trainings will be provided for smooth functioning of the state Athlete Input Council.
