About the Youth Leaders

Musa Jammeh is a 19 year-old, Youth Leader who lives in Bakoteh His first experience with Special Olympics Gambia was during the digital local youth summit, where he was given the opportunity to directly engage with other Youth Leaders without ID, while also showcasing his talents in the presence of everyone to prove to society that disabilities are not inabilities. He is a Youth Leader because he believes that he can participate in many Special Olympics projects that equip him with the knowledge to help his peers with ID. I am also an ambassador of Special Olympics Gambia and am committed to spreading inclusion in my school and community.

Omar Tabally, is a 20 years old Youth Leader In his prior experiences with Special Olympics, he was in Brikama, where he engaged the athletes in sporting activities like running. In his experience, Special Olympics means uniformity. Special Olympics teaches us about humanity, teaches us to love one another, builds peace and harmony, makes life easier for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and educates the general members at large.

The Inspiration

We want to break down the barriers that prevent people with intellectual disabilities from accessing the digital world. We want to equip our athletes with the necessary skills to be able to do graphic design.

The Plan

We plan to teach our athletes how to use computers, navigate digital platforms, and to do graphic design.

Project Goals

Our goal is for our athletes to be able to comfortably be able to use digital gadgets and be equipped with graphic design skills. Through this, we hope that our athletes can use these skills to gain employment and promote Unified activities.
